Many ArcGIS users rely on VBA, VBScript, and VB6. According to the depreciation plan for ArcGIS (http://resources.arcgis.nl/downloads/ArcGIS_10_Deprecation_Plan.pdf) VBA will not be supported as of ArcGIS 10.1; and use of VB6 is being discouraged (http://blogs.esri.com/Dev/blogs/arcobjectsdevelopment/archive/2009/03/30/VBA-and-VB6_3A00_-The-Road-Ahead.aspx).
